What
to Bring
First and foremost, Rising River is a working retreat.
Therefore, you should bring whatever you need to do
your best work. Many retreaters bring laptops, source
materials, previous drafts, and favorite books. Some
bring printers. In season, people have brought hiking
shoes, swimsuits, snowshoes, cross country skis, ice
skates, and bicycles.
You
should also bring at least one writing project that
you plan to focus on at the retreat. Don't wait to arrive
at the retreat before choosing a project. Plan to arrive
with an idea, a rough outline, a first draft, or a revision
in hand so that you are ready to hit the ground running
on Thursday afternoon.
One-on-One Critique Sessions
Each participant is welcome to meet with Jackie for a one-on-one critique of a work-in-progress. Sign-up for one-on-one critiques takes place on Thursday of the retreat.
Group Critique Sessions
Many participants choose to have their work read at a group critique session. There is a laptop and printer available on-site for printing out copies of your work-in-progress to share with the group. Sign-up for group critiques takes place on Thursday of the retreat.
Special
Dietary Needs
If you have any food allergies or special food requirements,
please indicate that fact on the registration form.
The B&B is happy to make accommodations.
Roommates
If you and a friend would like to share a room at Rising
River, both of you need to indicate so on your separate
registration forms. Any concerns about room sharing?
Please include them on your registration form.
